Image Export FAQ

Answers about PlainKits Image Export: where exports start, what manifest.csv contains, naming presets, archive retention, plan limits, and languages.

What does Image Export actually do?

You choose which products or images to include, and Image Export packages them into a single downloadable ZIP — named and organized automatically — along with a manifest.csv that maps every image back to its product, variant, SKU, and collection.

Where can I start an export from?

Three places: the Products list, a single product page, or a collection page in your Shopify admin — each has an Image Export action that carries your current selection straight into the export. You can also start one from inside the app itself, filtering by status, vendor, collection, stock, or creation date.

What's in manifest.csv?

For every image in the export: the product it belongs to, its variant, SKU, collection, the original source URL, and whether that file downloaded successfully. It's there so a designer, printer, or teammate can always trace an image file back to the product it came from.

Can I control the file names and folder structure?

Yes. Pick a built-in preset — Send to designer, Social media, Marketplace / POS, Bulk editing, or Store backup — and Image Export applies a sensible naming and folder scheme automatically. You can also build your own combination of folder structure and file naming instead of using a preset.

How long can I download a finished export?

Free plan exports are available to download for 7 days after they're created. Paid plans extend that to 6 months. After that window, the ZIP is no longer available, but the export's details and logs stay visible in your history.

Does a failed image use up my quota?

No — only images that are successfully processed and included in your ZIP count against your monthly allowance.

What are the plan limits?

PlanImages per month
Free100
Starter1,000
Essential10,000
Pro100,000

Plans are billed and managed through Shopify's Billing API, from inside the app.

What does Image Export have access to?

Only product, variant, image, and collection data — requested under Shopify's read_products permission when you install the app. It never touches customer data or order data.

What languages does Image Export support?

The app's interface is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Dutch, and Swedish. Change it any time from Settings.
