Use Image Upload when your photos are ready but assigning them to products one at a time would take too long. The important step is reviewing the destination before you create an upload task.
1. Prepare a small ZIP first
Start with a few existing Shopify products. Put supported JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF images in a ZIP. Use a consistent product identifier in file names or folders. For example, TOTE-001/front.jpg can use TOTE-001 as a SKU when you choose the corresponding folder rule. Confirm that the identifier actually exists in your store.
2. Open Image Upload and choose the ZIP
Select the ZIP in the app. The browser checks supported files before preparing the upload. ZIP is the currently supported source; Dropbox and Google Drive are not available. Installation is available after Shopify approval.
3. Match files to products
Choose SKU, barcode, product handle, or product ID matching to suit your archive. An included manifest.csv takes priority. In the review, inspect the destination product for each file. Correct or exclude unresolved and ambiguous files; do not guess from a similar product name.
4. Choose add or replace
Add to existing images keeps the product’s current images. Replace existing images replaces them after new images for that product upload successfully. Make an image backup first if you need to keep the old set. Matching a file does not upload it: the confirmation is a separate step.
5. Confirm and monitor History
Check the selected image count and current usage terms. Confirm the task, then use History to follow background progress. The first 100 successful uploads per billing cycle are free; additional successful uploads follow the current graduated Shopify pricing. Failed images do not count.
6. Verify a product in Shopify
Open a product from the test batch and check the uploaded images and the chosen add/replace behavior. Review the task’s failures before repeating any work. Once the small batch is correct, use the same naming rule for the rest of your catalog.
